Is there any online unix terminal practice site?

I do not have a Unix operating system but want to learn about it first. Is there any site for online Unix terminal practice? I am looking for a free one. Please help me.

Hi Lussy,

I would highly recommend installing or running directly from CD if you are a true learner because the feel to type in real UNIX environment is far better than typing in some website. But if you really want it then here is one of those sites which give you UNIX environment. Registration is free but you can’t FTP or ssh as certain ports are blocked.

Hi,

I read your post regarding the UNIX Operating System. If you're more comfortable in typing rather than using a mouse, then UNIX is more suitable for you compared to Windows. With the Windows OS, you would need to input commands by using a mouse or by "clicking"; unlike for UNIX OS where you need to type the commands.

You can try the websites below for practicing UNIX commands. It would allow you to create a shell account for free as long as you abide by the site's rules and limitations.

However, if you really want to learn about the UNIX commands; I suggest that you boot from a live CD like Knoppix . You can just insert the CD, reboot your PC and you can already practice UNIX commands.
