Hi,
I have 100s of essays submitted by trainees in my working place in the PDF format. I need to count the exact number of words in those essays to evaluate them. So anybody knows a method to count word in acrobat reader without lot of effort.

One way is very simple which is to copy the text to word and then count them. Other is to use software for calculating. This is known as anycount and can be used for getting count for words for BMP, CHM, CSV, GIF, HLP, HTM, HTML, JPG, MIF, ODP, ODS, ODT, PDF, PNG, PPS, PPT, PPTX, PUB, RAR, RTF, SDC, SDD, SDW, SLP, SXC, SXI, SXW, TXT, VSD, WPD file formats. I have 2 suggestions in solving your problem. First is using Microsoft Word and second is using Free online word count.
Here is the link of the online word counter: http://felix-cat.com/tools/wordcount/.
In using the online word tool counter, first go to the link and then browse the PDF file and click “Count”. Wait until it displays the counted words on the screen.
In using Microsoft Word, locate the PDF file on your computer, open it and the Adobe Reader will launch. After opening the pdf file press CTRL+A then CTRL+C to copy the entire text in your PDF file. Then launch/ open the Microsoft word program. As the time you open the MS WORD, press CTRL +V to paste the entire text into your Word document. Check the status bar to know the number of words. Below is the sample to locate the status bar.

I think that the counting of your essays is really easy. Just copy the essay to Microsoft Word and then you can notice that there is a word count bar.

Hi Mannddytiaa,
There are softwares that can be had to convert the pdf essays to word. I would suggest however, converting the pdf files to word documents, then use the word count option. This I believe is easier and you can also have the spelling check done at the same time.
