Hello everybody,

There is an error after I download document. When trying to open the .doc file there is an error pops up on the screen saying unable to open file. What should I do to open a .doc file? Give me some idea that will probably fix this issue.

There is an error after I download document.

Many of us get error while downloading documents and while opening .doc file. The first reason that may cause this is use of Operating system that is advanced than 2007. We get error when we try to open a file with Microsoft office 2003 file with Microsoft 2008 or so. Often the file conversion does not happen properly. Now let’s look at the solutions.

1. Versions of Microsoft word that were released after Jan, 2010 do not support XML mark up language, so make sure your document does not have any XML markup integrated.

2. There are a few free software available that can repair word documents very efficiently. One of them is available here

It can repair the following versions of Microsoft word: Microsoft Word 6.0, Word 95, 97, 2000, XP, and 2003.

There is an error after I download document.

There can be following reasons due to which you are unable to open the file:

 

1. File not downloaded properly.

2. File got corrupted during download.

3. File is already corrupted before download.

4. File may not be .doc type someone edited  its extension.

 

For reasons 1 & 2 you can do the following solution:

 

Re download the file either using IDM (Internet Download Manager) or by a good internet connection so the file get downloaded properly without any trouble.

 

If above solution doesn’t works then reasons 3 & 4 are true and then you cannot do anything the file it is already corrupted and cannot be opened.
