Many laptops such as the Toshiba Mini NB305 come with a software package that includes Microsoft Works 9. Is there going to be another Microsoft Works update anytime soon?

Some of the problems are our study management is not good they need to be improve. The checking of papers is not good in Pakistan. Teachers get paid for the checking of the paper but they instead of check paper carefuly they are thinking of how many papers have they checked and how much money will they got for each paper. This is one the big issue in our study system. Government need to improve this thing.  Thanks

Microsoft Works 9 is not designed to run on modern operating systems such as Microsoft Windows 7 and later so I’m sure latest laptop models will no longer have this software pre-installed. Microsoft Works 9 is designed for Windows XP and Windows Vista only. If your computer is 32-bit, you need to have 32-bit Windows XP Service Pack 2 or 32-bit Windows Vista.

If your machine is 64-bit, you need to have 64-bit Windows XP Service Pack 1. 64-bit Windows Vista is not supported. For a little history about Microsoft Works, it is a discontinued office suite created by Microsoft. Compared to Microsoft Office and or other major office suites, Microsoft Works is rather smaller, cheaper, and with lesser features. Its main functionality consists of a spreadsheet, a database management system, and a word processor.

Older versions have a terminal emulator whereas later releases have a dictionary and a calendar. Companies often pre-install Microsoft Works on their low-cost computers because it is cheap, only around $40 if you will buy on retail and around $2 for OEM. Microsoft Works was originally called MouseWorks which is an integrated spreadsheet, database program, and word processor. MouseWorks was designed for Mac computers by Rupert Lissner and Don Williams which are both former Apple employees.
