Tridion R5 strange error message

Hi all,

One faces many situations where we want to delete a publication. I wanted to delete a publication but the content management system installed on my PC shows an error. I am using the Tridion content management system. The screenshot of the error is shown below:

It is not possible to delete a Publication that contains published

items.

I am trying to understand what this error means but I cannot get the point.

Has anyone else faced this problem with Tridion? What is the root cause of the error?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Tridion R5 strange error message

I am not familiar with Tridion or any other content management systems [CMS] but upon searching the web I managed to find a blog that completely explains on how to properly delete a publication under the Tridion content management system.

It is clear in his blog that you really can not delete a publication if it is still currently published and the publication should have no other dependencies or any child publications within the publication. This means that you need first to unpublished the publication before you can actually delete it. It also suggests a different way of unpublished all items by running the following query on the CM database [but do backup the database first before continuing with the procedure]:
