What is the latest kernel version used in Ubuntu 12.04 and what kernel version they are going to use in ubuntu 12.10 ?

How they will be different when kernel version changes ?

Ubuntu 12.10 linux kernal ?

Hi Gregory,

Linux 12.04 uses 3.2 kernel and as stated on Ubuntu site "With Ubuntu 12.04 being an LTS release, our primary focus has been on stability.  As such, we chose to ship with a v3.2 based kernel and will continue to rebase to the latest v3.2.y stable kernels as they become available." .

The latest available kernel according to kernel.org is 3.5-rc2 and the latest stable release is 3.4.2 .

Ubuntu 12.10 Alpha 1 Linux has Kernel 3.4 and you can update your kernel from within your Ubuntu in the update manager .

So the Ubuntu kernel team is always working on kernel modifications.
