Ubuntu cannot connect to internet

I installed the latest Ubuntu 14 but I cannot connect to the internet via an Ethernet cable. My wireless card does not work on the new Ubuntu installation, therefore, I have to connect to a nearby PC through an Ethernet connection. The PC I am supposed to connect to runs on Windows 7 and it accepts the connection through the Ethernet cable and even shows connection established. However, even after this, I am not able to access the internet. Is there a special way to bridge the networks and share the connection? Can you explain to me how it is done?

That issue happens whenever you have new installed a new operating system. Once installing a new operating system it wipes previously installed drivers and your computer does not work efficiently. To solve that, you need to update your drivers over the internet. Alternatively download driver identifier and it will help you finding missing drivers.
