Hi,
I have recently purchased a dv6-6b40sp and this has a 6770M with an Intel graphic card. There is meant to be GPU managing software, but I couldn't find it. So, I tried to unsuccessfully install it myself. I tried downloading of a forum website first, but when I performed a search of C: there was no driver there and neither was the Catalyst manager software.
I then went to the AMD site and used AMD Mobility Radeon™ Driver Verification Tool and that didn’t find the GPU either. In fact, it reported an error which was something like:
"It is not possible to download AMD Catalyst mobility due to an hardware/software incompatibility on your computer.
There is no support to the version of your graphic adapter. Contact the manufacturer of your notebook to obtain a graphic driver update."
Do you know what I can do to install it?
Any help is appreciated.

Hi Louise,
HP dv6-6b40sp has Switch able Graphics
Means it has two Graphics card one is of ATI's and the other Intel's. It dynamically switch between Graphics Cards. When a program demands High Graphics it switch it self to ATI else it remains on Intel. The problem you are having is that it is switched to Intel and not getting back to ATI. The solution is in Bios Setup.
Step 1
When Computer Starts,
Press ESC button
&
Then Press F10 Button to go into Bios Setup
Or
Just follow the buttons mentioned when computer starts to get into Bios setup.
Step 2
Go to the options Which says "Switchable Graphics".
Step 3
Change from "Dynamic" mode to "Fixed" as ATI. Mean it will not Switch between Graphics Card.
That's All.
If your bios not showing any option simply update your bios

If you have an HP computer but you can’t find the driver for your video card, the driver is usually available from the manufacturer’s website. If you have a dv6-6b40sp model, go to HP Pavilion dv6-6b40sp Entertainment Notebook PC. The page should automatically detect your operating system. If you see a different operating system, click “Change” then select your correct operating system.
After this, download and install all available drivers and software for your computer. For the video card, there are three drivers available: AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver, AMD/Intel Switchable High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver, and Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver. If you have an Intel video card, see which of the Intel drivers will work. You should download all drivers for your computer on your hard drive for backup.
You should do this because computer manufacturers remove the drivers from their website after several years especially when the model is no longer receiving any update.
