I could not make a backup for my Windows 7 partition on the OS X Lion pre installed on my Mac book. After the recent installation of Windows 7 on my Mac book pro 13” laptop, I connected the external hard drive and back up the Windows 7 but it wasn’t possible because of the format. Are there instructions or a procedure of formatting my external hard drive so that I can still back up Windows?
Unable to make a backup of Win 7 on Mac book
Hi Anthea Matthews,
There is a disk utility that is a free software in which you can create and restore back up images of your windows 7 partition. This Utility disk is updated to support OS X Lion. It can change the size of HFS + OS X Lion.
How?
Back Up Windows 7 partition with UTILITY DISK
Make sure you configure the preferences in utility disk if the windows 7 partition is not as big as the old one in order for you to save the images as uncompressed.
Change the size of the MAC Operating System partition Remove the old Windows 7 partition Build a new Windows 7 partition as MS-DOS (fat) in a free memory space next after the MAC Operating System partition If the current Windows 7 partition is not as big as the old one, you have to shrink the system file on the image by choosing > TOOLS then click Shrink Windows.
Restore Utility Disk partition over the current Windows 7 partition.
Hope this might help you.
Thanks
