Unable to open Google websites using the latest Google Chrome

Hello,

Am I right in assuming that I am not able to open Google websites because I’m using the latest Google Chrome?

I opened my Gmail account and tried to go to one Google Reader link, but got this warning message –

This is probably not the site that you are looking

for!

You attempted to reach www.google.co.uk, but instead you actually reached a server identifying

itself as www.google.com. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server by

something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and

potentially harmful) version of www.google.co.uk. You should not proceed.

Proceed anyway Back to safely

Help me understand

Isn’t it supposed to be safe and available since it’s a Google site?

Please clarify.

Thank you.

Hello there William, my suggestion is look for the time and date.

Check if your time and date is update and correct. if not please try to update your time and date to correct time.

Google chrome sometimes wont open a website because of incorrect time.

When you try to connect it says some security threats.

Hope this solution can help you solve your problem.

Have a nice day

This error or warning shows because the phishing and malware protection is enabled.

This error simply means that the website's certificate that you are visiting doesn't match the actual URL of the site.

When browsing websites which uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) , the server of the site presents certificate for its identity and that certification contains information like address of the website, that must be matched to your website URL that you are visiting.

A possible reason for this is there is someone who is presenting a certificate that intercepts your server’s communications.

If you are really sure for the site that you attempting to visit just click “proceed anyway” button, else click “Back to safety” button.
