Hello,
QuickTime is not able to play a few files on my machine. I have one of the .rmi file, which I am trying to play with QuickTime player and it will not play.
It comes up with an error message.
The movie could not be opened. This file is not a movie file.

This is a regular file, which I am able to play with other Media players. But not sure why I get this error message when I try to play with QuickTime.
I tried to login into another account, which allows me to play the file. But when I try to play with my user name I get this error message.
Thanks for your help.
Unable to play with QuickTime software
Hello BettyMiller,
Other files that Quicktime player cannot play is because they are not supported by Quicktime. These are the formats that Quicktime can support.
Better use a converter, to be able to play that specific format.
Media type: Video
QuickTime Movie (.mov), MPEG-4 (.mp4, .m4v),MPEG-2 (OS X Lion only),MPEG-1, 3GPP, 3GPP2,AVI,DV.
Media type: Audio
iTunes Audio (.m4a, .m4b, .m4p),MP3,Core Audio (.caf),AIFF,AU,SD2,WAV,SND,AMR.
Unable to play with QuickTime software
Hello,
Try to duplicate the file (command-D) and change the file extension from .rmi to .mid and QuickTime should open it. QuickTime might not sometimes open .rmi. So it is better, to change it to another format.
If you want to run Windows Media Video files and you have trouble, you will need to download flip4mac plugin for QuickTime on Microsoft webpage.
To see AVI and Flash, you will need to install Perian (also for free), Perian codec pack 1.0.
