Hello everyone,
Would like to know if someone have already encountered this problem that I currently have. Recently I bought new iPhone 4 and really excited that I play around with it. The thing is, some trouble happens when I try to restore my iTunes file from previous backup at iPhone 3Gs. This is the error I get when I tried to restore it, it says my phone already too old to restore the iTunes.
The backup "iDave 4" cannot be restored to this
iPhone because the software on the iPhone is too
old.
To restore this iPhone from this backup, you must first set up
the iPhone as new and restore the software to the latest
version.
This is really weird, my phone clearly newer than the older one, how can it consider my software older than previous version? How can I restore my iTunes, please give me some instruction.
Thank you
Unable to restore an iTunes backup from a brand new iPhone 4
The error occurs when the you are trying to transfer a backup with a newer version of the Operating System (iOS) into a device that uses an older version. It is possible that your iphone3GS was updated to the latest version of iOS before the backup was created. You should try opening iTunes and check for the latest iOS.
Update the software of your current device (shown in the image below). After the update, you should now be able to restore your backup.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

If you are still encountering errors after doing the suggested solution, you may try extracting data off your iPhone backup. I know that iPhone Backup Extractor can get these data from an iTunes backup, including photo and videos.
