Hello,

Hope someone here can help me with this error message

I have installed Drupal software on my windows Vista machine. I am logged in as an admin. As per instructions, I have the SMTP module already installed. Now when I try to perform any action on Drupal, I get the following error message

Unable to send e-mail. Please contact the site administrator if the problem persists.

What email or which administrator is it referring to? Do I need to install something else on this machine?

Hi JamesCox, Good day,

thank you for posting your questions here.

Now, your inquiries are; What email or which administrator is it referring to? Do I need to install something else on this machine?

Here are my answers to these questions;

Contact email administrator, is a default message created by Microsoft which refers to either the Internet Service Provider, IT guy, and or your email provider.

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) usually won't work, if you are sending an email which uses and runs into a different network. Say for example, Verizon email is what your using, but you are in Starbucks using their Internet. And Starbucks is subscribed to Road Runner Business Internet. RR Internet won't allow your email to pass through their server because of potential Virus/Trojan attachment. They only allow their subscribers to use their network to send messages.

The solutions, here they are:

  • Identify your SMTP server settings.
  • Contact your ISP and ask what server settings should you apply / set into your Drupal.
  • Set it in your email software and try sending.
  • If your not on your own network and using someone else's Internet, SMTP or sending usually won't work, since your email software was configured to only use your ISP server settings.
  • SMTP server settings has to be changed to what ever server they use.
  • Try sending and if this won't work, contact your ISP for more help.
