I’m trying to format my 150GB disk space in the disk management window but then I am encountering an error stating: ‘’An unexpected error has occurred. Check the System Event Log for more information on the error. Close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer". After that, the drive that has 150GB space didn’t appear as same as the other drives as it was before. How does it happen unreasonably?

Unexpected error after formatting hard disk
Hi,
In Disk management you can see shrink option. This option will provide that we can shrink any existing partition. With this option you find unallocated space and create new partition of that. For shrink partition you can do this:-
In the disk management, click on those volume that you want to shrink like d:/. Right click on this volume; a option window will be open. Click on shrink option. Click on ok then next window will be appear.
In the next window you can enter Volume space then click on shrink. After some time, a new partition will be appearing on your screen.

Unexpected error after formatting hard disk
Hello Tommy,
If you have any programs running that are residing on the partition that you are trying to format using the disk management utility then you will need to close them first for the formatting process to be successful. When files are in use for that partition then it will be impossible for you to format it.
You can check the task manager and see if there are processes running just in case you are not able to see them in the desktop window. End the processes using the task manager, restart your computer and then try formatting the partition one more time and see what happens.
Hope this helps.
