An unknown error occurred while processing the certificate

I have been receiving this error message from the past few days. We have a backend exchange server, on which we have a valid certificate. Due to some issues, we have not been able to connect the server to the Internet, but it is connected to the Front end server.

When I try to access an SSL enabled application, I still receive the following error message.

Does anyone have an idea about the below given error message? If so, please help me.

An unknown error occurred while processing the certificate

• Solution:
• Open local area network and set your setting to automatic ;  then open your network access.  If it doesn't work, then use the second solution.
• Second is:

• There are two types of errors that occur like this.
• First is :
• When settings of Internet does not set on its original mode.
• Details:
• Basically this error occurs, when then internet connection does not work properly.  Meaning, when your settings of Internet connection does not set up the regular way;  then this error occurs.
• Occurred by encryption of SSL.
• 'A unknown error' 

Second solution 

• This is also a problem of SSL encryption. Some of the site do not support SSL encryption.  Ask admin to change the SSL encryption or setting.  When admin set is well,  then you can login or consent successfully. 
• Or ask admin to turn off the SSL.  It is also caused by an error on your screen.  
• First you must check your Internet connection or your network access setting.  If it doesn't work, then ask admin to turn off the SSL encryption.

An unknown error occurred while processing the certificate

Certificate error usually occurs if your system date and time is not updated. You must set your system date and time according to your current time and time zone. This will cause confusion on the server you are visiting, because of your date and time settings. The network server where you are browsing, will send an expired or invalid certificate to you, based on the date and time set in your date and time settings.

Changing of date and time is easy.  Just give a click on the date and time on your system tray ; then click the, “Change date and time settings…”, click the Change date and time button, under the Date and Time dialog box.

Also change the Time Zone, based on your location.
