This is the first time that I have ever encountered a problem with Socialite.
I have been using Socialite 1.3.5 for a long time now, and everything seems to be working just fine, except that a black window pops up every time it finishes reloading.
The error message reads: Twitter error : An unknown error as occurred. I have provided a screenshot of the error message below, along with my Mac details.
Imac C2D 2,4 ghz / 2Go ram / Snow Leopard /
 Socialite 1.3.5
 Permissions rebuilds.
“Twitter error: An unknown error as occurred"
How do I go about solving this problem?
I'd really appreciate any help I can get regarding this matter.
Unknown Twitter Error in Socialite
Dear Camwynn
Try to go to twitter and log in with your account and make sure to revoke access from Socialite from your account. Now, when you refresh, Socialite will not be able to access data and will show again the authorizing dialog with correct permissions which give read access only to direct messages and not read and write access. It's better that you are using socialite 1.3.5 as it's the one which authorizes correctly with twitter. You should make sure and take care that when you authorize again it should say that Socialite only has read access to your direct messages.
Hope this may help you.
Best of luck

Your problem might be caused by an update in Twitter. Twitter changed their permission model and old authorizations don't have read access to direct messages, that’s why you’re getting this error message. I have 2 possible fix.
1.      Now, Socialite version 1.3.5 supports asking authorization for this new type of permission. But you will need to remove your current Twitter service and add it again, authorizing it for the new permissions.
2.    The second one doesn’t involve removing Socialite. You should go to Twitter and log in with your account. Next is revoke access to Socialite. On your next refresh, Socialite will see that it can't access data and will show authorization dialog. Give access to it and enter PIN.

This error could be caused by an internal error in the program. It would help if you will restart your computer and then open the application again to see if it’ll work. If this step didn’t help, try doing a reinstallation of the program. Uninstall Socialite then check your computer for any possible errors. Use a disk utility application to check the system. After that, install the program again. This will fix if ever there are corrupted files present in your previous installation. Try it again after this.
Since you are using an older version of the program, you might want upgrading it. Install the latest version, Socialite 1.4.1. Visit https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/29536/socialite to download this latest release. This version works on Mac OS X 10.6 and later.
