Hi,
Currently there are approximately 100 users and 50 GB data on Exchange 2003. We used ntbackup earlier for a full backup but it seems not enough. The thing I want is to restore users' mail/calendar post efficiently and easily. Please explain me how doing it?
Which 3rd party software the best is for this of is there any other ways to do this? We wish to upgrade to Exchange 2007 or 2010 version next year. Will I face the same trouble with it also? If not is the built in backup is better in 2007/2010 version than 2003?
Please give me a complete answer to this.
Thanks.
Upgrade to Exchange 2007 or 2010 version
Hi,
Before selecting a 3rd party software make sure that it is supported by Microsoft because you can get assistance from Microsoft if the software is supported by them. So I suggest you to use UltarBac Exchange agent software.
1. Firstly, install the 3rd party software on your backup server and restart the system.
2. Then start the backup process. There are two ways you can backup your data – online and offline. I suggest you do online backup.
3. If you want your backup process to be completed quickly then you can choose the incremental/differential backup options. But it is always better to choose a full backup so that all your files and data will be backed up.
When you upgrade to Exchange 2007/2010, you will not be facing any such problems. A lot of bugs have been fixed in the 2010 version. So I suggest you to upgrade your software as soon as possible. The inbuilt backup will be sufficient for your data in Exchange 2010.
Hope this information helps you.
Upgrade to Exchange 2007 or 2010 version
Hello and welcome to TechyV,
According to Microsoft’s Website. Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Setup can be used to install the server running in an existing.
Exchange Server 2003 organization. In fact, it is impossible to perform a direct upgrade from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.
Though, it is possible to install Exchange 2010 server in the existing Exchange organization, and move the Exchange resources.
(Mailboxes, public folders, and connectors) for Exchange 2010.
