I use windows vista from long time and a lot of data and information is on it. Recently I tried to make upgrades to windows 7 but it stops at 53 percent.
I tried many times but still the same problem. So please anyone tell me what is the problem. How to fix and if I am going to lose my data.

Transfer your important files to another hard drive/external drive. After your important files are on another hard drive, setup Windows 7 using clean install. Your PC should be booted from the DVD containing the Windows 7 files setup.

The data that you have on your hard can't be lost. There are many problems that can occur during the Window updating you have not specified the error that what kind of error you have and what message does the window display to stop updating the possible error that can occur in Window updating are first your window key is genuine.
If your window that you are using is not activated with a genuine key and not registered with the Microsoft Organization then you can't complete your update.
Hope this will solve your problem.
Thanks.

This type of error is the indication of the missing files. Simply I want to say that whatever disk you are using for the windows is not possessed a good quality and that the disk may have a corrupted file.
Firstly you should change your that disk a purchase a new one but keep in mind that disk a pure one having all files. Then you can check your computer configuration and then match those with the requirements of the windows and then install that one it really works.
If you have a downloaded setup then installs again that setup of a new website.
Thanks.
