Why is my USB Ports, front and back, randomly stops functioning after a period of time except from the Keyboard and mouse. I Tried Plugging the USB device in and out but it has no effect, to get them to work again I have to power-down and reboot my Laptop.

I think the issue with the USB ports has something to do with the Power Management feature of every port. Each port you have on your computer has individual Power Management option that allows the operating system to turn off the device attached to it in case of inactivity. On the other hand, if the device connected to the USB port is busy doing something, the operating system will not shut down or turn off the device.

But not all USB devices are turned off because most devices need to be on all the time. If you need your device to be on all the time, you can deactivate the option by unchecking it. To check the Power Management option of the USB port, right-click My Computer then select Properties. Select Hardware tab then click Device Manager.

Expand “Universal Serial Bus controllers” and double-click one of the USB Root Hub to show the Properties. In the USB Root Hub Properties window, select Power Management tab. Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” then click OK. Do this on all USB Root Hub to make sure the operating system will not turn off any device. See image.
