In order to keep up with our current View Agent 5.1, I am struggling to upgrade the view agent in my GI. It isn’t done yet because I cannot install the VMCI driver.
At first, I booted my GI from a snapshot used to deploy our current desktops. I rebooted VM after uninstalling View Agent 5.0 and then tried to install the latest View Agent 5.1 what exactly is a VMCI driver?
VMware View Agent Installer Information
Internal Error 25028.
OK
Is it really necessary for my installation?
View Agent 5.1 – VMCI driver
Hello Sherry,
The VMCI is the virtual machine communication interface that is meant to enable communication between the virtual machine as well as the esxhost, or with any other type of host depending on the platform that you are using.
You really do not need to have it, and the communication will still travel over the network by default. The VMCI is supposed to be more efficient though.
The view agent does not need anything to be installed for it for it gets installed with the vmware tools. In the event that the agent is throwing an error then you will have to try removing then tools and then reinstalling them.
Regards,
Carl
