Hello. My Vista laptop installed a security update. I recently noticed, the Vista gadget from Lenovo has gone missing. How do I get them back. I have the Lenovo ThinkPad T400 that has the Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 processor, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, ATI Mobility Radeon 3470 Graphics Card and Windows OS Vista 64 bit SP2.

Hello Edward Rand,
It seems your gadget got disabled when your computer updated. Here is how you can get it
back.
1) From your computer, Click Start, then Open Control Panel.
2) Switch Control Panel to Classic View.
3) Open the Windows Sidebar Properties icon.
4) Check the "Start Sidebar when Windows starts" box then click Ok to apply the changes.
5) Restart your computer and you should see your Lenovo gadget back.

To fix the problem:
1- Open the Task Manager and click on processes tab see "sidebar.exe"is listed or not.
2- Make sure that this process is Enabled.
3- Make sure that the sidebar isn't blocked from Firewall or other Security programs.
If the problem still doesn't fix use these steps:
1- Click "Start" and click "All Programs"
2- Click on "Accessories", then Right-click on "Command Prompt" and click "Run as Administrator"
Note: If there was an administrator password, type it or provide confirmation.
3- Type in the command prompts:
Regsvr32 atl.dll
Enter
Regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%Windows Sidebarsbdrop.dll
Enter
Regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%Windows Sidebarwlsrvc.dll
Enter
Then Exit.
4- Finally restart the computer.
