Visual studio 2010 extension installer installation failed

Hi guys,

I have been using visual studio 2010 on my system.

Recently I decided to install the visual studio extension but unfortunately the installation failed.

I was met with the following error on my screen:

The error says:

Install Failed

The installation was unable to install the extension to all the selected products. For more information, click on the install log link at the bottom of the dialog.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate

I tried reinstalling it again but still the same error persisted. Has anyone else encountered such a problem?

If yes, please do let me know. Looking forward to your suggestions.

Visual studio 2010 extension installer installation failed

Firstly, here is the difference between web install (boots trapper) and ISO install (full package):

• Boots trapper is a very lightweight setup package, which determines what needs to be installed and attempts to download these required components from the web during installation.
• Full package is a stand-alone installer package that contains all required components to deploy different platforms.

Based on the error message above, it shows that the setup file for Microsoft Application Error Reporting failed verification.
It might be caused by corrupted ISO installer itself. Thus, when you tried web installer, it downloaded the required components from the Internet without problem. The installation was completed.

Hope this can let you know the possible root cause of your concern.
