Visual Studio 2010 fails to install with “Error occurred during setup”

I need to install Visual Studio 2010 on my Windows 7 64-Bit PC but I keep getting an error :

Setup could not install the following component:

Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Express Prerequisites x64

Visual Studio 2010 Tools for SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 ENU

Microsoft Silvertight

Microsoft SQL Server System CLR Types

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Objects

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Service Pack 1 (x64)

Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 ADO.NET Entity Framework Tools

Add a Desktop shortcut to Setup to install these components Later.

Exit

I stopped the installation and tried to install VS 2008 but the same error occurred. Any ideas on how to fix it?
