VMware-Player has encountered a critical error
Hi David,
The error is due to VMware Workstation.msi file.
To resolve this error follow the steps as mentioned below:
1) Click 'Start', type 'cmd', open command prompt
2) Make a temp directory by using the command 'C:/temp'
3) Change the directory to where the VMware Installer is downloaded
4) Extract the .msi installer from the .exe by running the following command: 'cmd/c <VMware Installer name>.exe -e c:/temp'
5) After the command returns, the 'C:/temp' folder contains 'VMware Workstation.msi' and *.cab
6) Run the VMware Workstation.msi by double clicking it in Windows Explorer

Hello there !!
Scrolling over your issue, we do find that you are not able to install the VMware player and you are getting the UI ie. User interface error.. So this generally happens because of the compatibility issue with the application that you want to use. Actually the OS have the 64 bit architecture and you are installing the application compatible with 32 bit architecture of the OS, and if this happens then the user get such type of the error notification. So you just check the compatibility of the application and make ensure that it is compatible with the OS you are using.

If you are installing VMware Player on your laptop, make sure your computer meets the requirements. Visit the VMware Player download page and check the system requirements. VMware Player is available only until version 7 with its VMware Player Pro 7.x for Microsoft Windows and Linux. Succeeding releases are now called VMware Workstation Player. If you wish to download the latest version, go to VMware Workstation Player.
The latest version at the moment is VMware Workstation Player 14.1.2 and it requires 64-bit Microsoft Windows. Alternatively, if you want to create a virtual machine on your computer, you can download Oracle VirtualBox. VMware Player is the former name of what now known as VMware Workstation Player. It is a virtualization software package designed for 64-bit computers running on either Microsoft Windows or Linux.
It is provided free of charge by VMware Inc.
