I have wanted to run a VMware player for a really long time. But all the instructions that I can find online are hard to follow and mixed opinions. Is there a simple way to install a VMware player with possibly a helpful Youtube video to follow? Any suggestions on a VMware player?
VMware Player Om Your Linux System?
Below are step-by-step instructions for installing VMWare Player on Ubuntu 11.04 or a Linux Mint 11 system.
For my username and Home directory I am using the name meme – please change this with your username and Home directory name

Download VMWare Player by clicking on the Download button here

If you have an existing VMware account, log in or create a new one

Follow the instructions that appear on the next screen. After that, you will receive an email with a link to download VMware Player from.

Open your email and click on the link provided. This will take you to the download page. You must download the right version of VMware Player for your system, i.e. 32- or 64-bit

Select Save File from the pop-up window

Open a terminal on Linux and type the following commands
sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-`uname -r`

Open the folder where you save VMware Player; for e.g. /home/meme/downloads (replace meme with your own username)
cd /home/meme/Downloads
Take a look at the contents of the directory:
ls -l
meme@meme-virtual-machine ~/Downloads $ ls -l
total 101136
-rw-r–r– 1 meme meme 103561067 2011-08-16 13:49 VMware-Player-3.1.4-385536.x86_64.bundle
meme@meme-virtual-machine ~/Downloads $

You are ready to install VMware Player now. Type:
gksudo bash ./VMware-Player-3.1.4-385536.x86_64.bundle

The graphical VMware Player installation wizard will open. Just follow the online steps
