Warning – Multiple default gateways are intended to provide
redundancy to a single network (such as an intranet or the Internet). Â
They will not function properly when the gateways are on two separate,Â
disjoint networks (such as one on your intranet and one on theÂ
Internet). Â Do you want to save this configuration?I received this warning prompt when I'm assigning IP address to my wireless area network connection. Before, I'm using LAN connection and its working fine. Now, I want to try using wireless connection for it have some benefits but i have this message. What should I do? Warning message when assigning IP to WAN connection
When assigning an IP Address regardless if it's a LAN connection of WAN, the IP Address should not the same on the other devices connected.
This is the cause of redundancy in a network. Assigning an IP Address is used when the other connect needs to connect to the network by way of IP Address, same applies to Wireless connection.
You might be using someone else's wireless network that uses DHCP connection that's why you get this error messages. But when connecting through LAN, it works fine when assigning an IP Address. Your Internet might be subscribed to Static IP Address and that is why you get Internet access when using this type of settings.
