Hi,

A message “We couldn’t get your developer license for Windows 8 Consumer preview.

Please check your network connection and try again” was appeared while creating a project on Microsoft Visual Studio.

Look at the screenshot given below. It demands developer license.

How can I get a developer license?

Please help.

Hi,

Thank you for your question. It is a common problem with windows 8 installation. Be sure that during the setup process of this windows you have give the product key and after finishing the installation you connect your system with internet. It is essential to connect with internet because it active your product with Microsoft.

We couldn’t get your developer license for Windows 8 Consumer preview

This method will force update your computer to install the necessary patch to fix the message looking for your developer license:

 

1. Restart your computer.

2. Make sure that no Visual Studio programs are running.

3. Go to Windows Update.

4. Click "Check now" several times.

 

 

5. Restart your computer.

6. Open Visual Studio program, then create a new Metro XAML project.

7. This time the registration should go fine.

 

Do the following steps to check for your developer license information:

 

1. Log in to Windows as administrator.

2. Open the Power shell.

3. Type the command: "Show-WindowsDeveloperLicenseRegistration".
