Hi and Good Day TechyV users!

Several years ago, almost all personal websites and many business websites had a guest book on them that visitors could sign. But these days , you just don’t find them anymore.  My question is, does website guest books still exist? Do you think that having a guestbook on a website is a thing of the past or do you think it can be a cool feature to add? Any solution will be nice.

Thanks.

Hello,

I think it is still a neat feature and will always be. We can think of the classical practice of hand written mails. Such a practice has not become obsolete despite the current trend of writing emails and SMS messages.

A guest book is a logging system that allows visitors to leave public comments. Websites offering immigration related consultancy services are an example. Visitors in general are not required to create user accounts before posting comments, as it is an informal method of dropping off a quick message.

Information provided by visitors in guestbooks can be recorded for generating statistics about visitors to the site, and for contacting them in the future. So, the usefulness of a guestbook will never die out.

A guest book is typically implemented by a script hosted remotely on the server side and written in a language such as Perl, PHP, Python, etc.

Please do not give up on guest books. Thanks.

Best Regards,
Parisi
