Google is the most popular tool to search the Internet. Most often use is Google Basic Search. Google Basic Search sorts pages that available on the Web but  Google Advanced Search has the ability to retrieved better result than Google Basic Search. Google Basic Search can give you million of related and unrelated topics based from what youv'e search and Google Advanced Search can give you refined results by following the right procedures.

Hi Mellisa,

 

Google advanced search is for very specific searches.

These are the options – 

You can find pages with:

1. All these words:

2. This exact word / phrase:

3. Any of these words:

4. None of these words:

5. Numbers ranging from and to:

And you can still narrow it down to more specific results by : language, region, last update, file type, etc.

 

The normal search is based on SEO rankings. But you can still specify it with some google search tricks.

1. You can search the time in a specific place – Just type "time in <place>".

2. Find the definition of a word – Just type "define : <word>".

3. Find by filetype – Just type "<your keyword> filetype:ppt"   (if looking for PPT).

4.Find local weather – Just type "weather: <place>".

5. Find by face – Just add the url  "&imgtype=face" to your search and the images will all be faces.
