Hi,
One of the features of GSM or (Global System for Mobile ) is the Subscriber Identity Module or commonly called "SIM". It stores different information like the id number of the subscriber, the list of networks available to a particular subscriber, pin codes and the like. Every SIM consists of 4 digit ID to activate from any GSM (SIM) capable phone. Before, SIMS are as big as credit cards which can be inserted into a phone, but now they made it so small that it takes a little of space from your GSM. Another feature of GSM is the ability to provide on-the air privacy. The privacy is maintained by the cellular carrier and is encoded to a specific key. There are several interfaces for GSM including: Bluetooth which is categorized into two (Profile and Class) and CDMA or (Code-Division Multiple Access).
 Hope this Helps.
