MoviX Linux is a mini distro on CD used for playing multimedia. It loads into RAM to play through a simple console menu that is configurable such as DVD, VCD, and even Audio CD. It even let network streams if the user has a NIC (Network Interface Card), and also TV if a TV card is available on the PC.

Once you boot your computer, the MoviX CD distro will start the console menu interface to MPlayer. After that, the user may now remove the Movix CD and play any or all the multimedia files they want.

The MoviX was created to solve problems arising from eMoviX like watching DVDs.

MoviX is a light media distribution developed by Roberto De Leo supporting slideshows, streaming, infrared controllers, TV cards, internet radio, and others. It is a project that develops playback-oriented multimedia for GNU/Linux distros. It lets you create bootable CDs that are capable of booting and autoplaying your multimedia files. It is mainly designed to play video files but can also be used on audio files.

MoviX can boot from USB flash drives, CDs, hard drives, compact flash cards, and network. MoviX2 is a tiny Linux distro on a disc designed at playing multimedia. It is a spin-off project that features X together with the usual MoviX configuration. eMoviX is a small GNU/Linux distribution based on MPlayer that plays video files when booted. It is used by K3b and MoviXMaker-2.

If you want to try MoviX, visit MoviX beta. The file is really old and I think is no longer being updated.
