Hello Willie,

This discussion is on a vast subject. But in a nutshell, we could talk about common windows OS's currently in use globally. 

Let's start with the familiar Windows XP the staple for windows users, the most common, and poses little hardware requirements. This one also has service pack versions 1,2 and 3. Service packs allow a program to be run on your system.

Another one is Windows 7, for me, this one function still like Windows XP, but with a better 'arsenal'. You could still run XP programs on this one. The newest of the line is Windows 8, which have more upgraded features.

The best way to understand these OS's is to experience them.
