What are the Important Terms Used in Data Transmission?

Hello,

There are few terms that are important for data transmission using cable media.

1. Bandwidth is a very important factor. Bandwidth can be defined as the total amount of information that can pass through a communications medium, measured in bits per second.Size of bandwidth is helpful for network performance analysis.
2. Attenuation—Occurs over long distances as a signal loses strength
3. Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)—Interference or noise caused by electromagnetic signals, which can decrease data integrity.
4. Crosstalk—an electrical or magnetic field originating from one communications signal that can affect the signal in a nearby circuit.
