LPT (Line Print Terminal or Local Print Terminal) is the original, and still common, name of the parallel port interface on IBM PC-compatible computers. While Ethernet is a computer networking technologies for local area networks (LAN). If you want to share your printer to a network or vice versa you will need Ethernet to connect to the other computer on the network.
