What is the benefit of thunderbird live activesync technology?

Apparently activesync is for mobile phones to synchronize their mail and calendar with the PC, so I can understand that Thunderbird on the PC could support it.

However what I'm not sure about is why the mobile doesn't need any special selections during setup of its email account if I want to use ActiveSync,

Is it automatically assumed ActiveSync will be used always with mobiles such as windows phone 7?

What do I get with thunderbird live activesync technology?

Hi Luz,

There are still issues regarding Outlook working with Exchange Activesync. 

If this will be a concern for you if you have an outlook express this will have a different protocol.

You can try Outlook 2013 is the very first version of its kind to connect via Activesync but it is still under testing.

And licensing fees may prevent Thunderbird plugins in adding Activesync.
