What does upgrading to mikrotik latest version of router installation do?

If I upgrade to mikrotik latest version of router installation, what benefits will I get, why is upgrading necessary, what kind of things are actually upgraded, I was wondering what sort of benefits I can get from upgrading since they always say it's important to upgrade?

What does upgrading to mikrotik latest version of router installation do?

Hi Robert,

                Being a stand-alone operating system this will be based on linux v 2.6 kernel. This is i386 compatible architecture, it supports minimum of 32 MB of RAM and a maximum 2 GB. It can support IDE, USB , SATA, and flash storage with a minimum space of 64 MB. It now has internal connection, packet marks and routing, it filters by IP addresses by port even port range. Now it also supports IP v6.
