What is a good transcription audio software?

Hello there.  I'm new to transcribing. 

Can someone here suggest a good transcription audio software that can play msv files with multi-channel control and foot pedal compatible? 

I'm on a Windows XP 64 bit system. 

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Hi, Edward!

There are several transcription software that are available for you to choose from. I have personally tried "Listen n Write" and "Express Scribe" for transcribing and both are very useful. For Listen n Write, its very useful for simple audio transcription, very user friendly and there are foot pedal controls. I use Express Scribe for more difficult audio which require a more thorough listening. 

Even though I use those two there are still many transcription software available. Here is a website that may help you more in detail regarding which transcription software to use.

What is a good transcription audio software?

Hello Edward,

There is a lot of transcription software that you can use which are compatible with your foot pedal. One of the most popular is Express Scribe. I may also recommend VLC Media Player.

 

VLC Media Player is also one of the popular and has a rich feature media player that supports both audio and video formats in multiple types of operating system. To be able to use this program with your foot pedal, simply connect your USB foot pedal to your computer and launch VLC Media Player. Open a supported file and you can now start transcribing.

 

 

The foot pedal allows you to start, stop, fast forward and rewind the audio/video while transcribing.
