I am currently using Microsoft Server 2003 and I had purchased it. So it is inconvenient for me to buy a new one since Microsoft support for server 2003 has been withdrawn. Can anyone tell me what will happen if I don’t migrate to some other Windows server?
What Happens When Microsoft Support For Server 2003 Is Withdrawn?
Although, the support for the Windows Server 2003 has been ended by Microsoft. However, many of the firms had migrated their applications and data to new servers while some hadn’t due to some financial reasons and some other too. This means that those who have not migrated their data to newer Windows server will not be able to get updates from Microsoft on anti-malware definitions. So those using Server 2003 will be at higher risk in case of security features and various people are there who are able to extract the data out of the servers via hacking. But still, Microsoft hasn’t shut-off the WS 2003 and can extend the support at a commensurate fee.
If someone is not migrating off of WS 2003 then it will be having conciliatory effects:
- There will be data breaches as no one is there to protect your servers from viruses and malwares which are of enormous threat to our system.
- There will be various compatibility issues regarding applications that are 64-bit because those who have updated WS 2003 will be still using older versions of apps that are 32-bit and with abated features.
- There will be hardware issues as well along with software ones. So you will be running your system at a high failure rate where there are fair chances of losing your data.
- Apps will also be affected as it is an arduous job to take care and maintain these apps by developers.
