What is a Hybrid drive .

I know what a hard drive is and I know what a Solid state drive is. However, I do not understand how the 2 could become one. One is mechanical and the other is of course solid state. This isn't a matter of converting one form of energy to another. It is how information is stored.

Dear Steven,

A Hybrid Hard Disk Drive or the H-HDD is an outsized buffer storage hard disk drive. It is different from a usual hard disk drive as this H-HDD has a cache that uses a steadfast memory or an SSD (Solid-State Drive).

Dear User,

A Hybrid Drive or commonly known as Hybrid Hard Drive (HHD) or the Hybrid Hard Disk Drive (H-HDD) utilizes and incorporates a cache using a stable memory or a Solid State Drive (SSD or SSH).

Several Hybrid drives use a Hybrid RAM Disk and Hybrid SSDs and a usual solid state drive. It comes with a high capacity and a swirling disk. It is the same with HDDs but a little faster.
