One of the buzzwords in the IT and Technology worlds is Machine Learning. However, when searching for an explanation of what it actually is, I can find nothing but long technical papers and articles. Can you briefly explain what machine learning is in layman’s terms?
What Is Machine Learning And How To Start With ML
Getting straight to it, in layman’s terms, machine learning can be defined as the field of artificial intelligence that enables computer programs to learn and improve on their own based on experience without being explicitly programmed.
This still is a formal definition. What this actually means is that a machine learning algorithm or program based on previous examples (experience) is able to improve its performance on the task that it does without being programmed to do so. Many believe that machine learning is the most exciting field in science today.
Applications of machine learning span from Biology to Robotics and from Web Intelligence to Research. Machine Learning has opened doors for data analytics like never before. A number of machine learning algorithms have been developed that suit different scenarios and fields of application.
