What kind of computer hardware is best so adobe products run smoothly?

I use Adobe Illustrator, Photo shop and Light room, but my computer can’t always handle the graphics. I will spend about an hour using a program and then it will take forever to load simple things such as a drop shadow when using Illustrator. What type of hardware should I get to help with this problem?

Hello,

What version of Adobe products are you using? Normally in higher versions such as CS3 and above versions normally before beginning the setup software is automatically checked for hardware requirements. If it is okay. The setup will continue. So it’s better to mention the version of Adobe Software that you are using. Are you using Illustrator and Photoshop same time? What is the configuration of your computer? If you are using both two please use only one at a time.

Secondly try to increase the size of your RAM. When you are designing a something Photoshop and Illustrator has lots of data to keep in its memory. To keep you need more RAM. And the most important thing is you need to have enough virtual memory and enough space on your system disk. When you are working with the computer before you save a design it will remain as a temporary file in your system.

To create a such a file you need to have enough space on your system partition (think that you have a computer which runs Windows XP and Windows installed in  C: partition and you have only 100mb as a free space on that partition. These kinds of situations are the great examples to slower machine. In such a machine you will not able to burn a CD and they are utterly slow. Windows partition needs to have free space to create temporary files. If you don't have such a space on your system partition it will shock you. So check it first of all.

Hi Andie,

Since the software you mentioned didn’t have the versions, it would be best to check the system requirements of every software you listed above.

And I suggest going beyond the RECOMMENDED specifications of the software’s you mentioned. Like for example on the RAM, if the recommended RAM for Adobe Illustrator is 1GB then it would be best to secure a 2GB of memory so you can also use other programs while using the Adobe Illustrator.

So as with the other mentioned requirements of the software also. It would be best to go beyond the RECOMMENDED REQUIREMENTS. Enough is better when it comes to this since mostly nowadays, our laptop is not only working for one application but good for a lot of applications running at once.
