The beginning of Mac or Macintosh projects dates back to the late '70s by Jef Raskin, an employee of Apple who came up with the idea of building an easy-to-use computer for common consumer use. The name Macintosh was derived from an apple tree, McIntosh. When Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple, found that the project is good, he then decided to focus on it. The first Macintosh was Macintosh 128k.

Hi,
Macintosh is a brand of personal computers made by Apple.
One of the advantages of using Macintosh is it is not prone to viruses and other security issues. There not much people that spend time in creating viruses for Macintosh because there are not so many people that use it. A lot also say that it is easy to use. In my humble opinion, I find Windows 7 easier to use and much more user friendly especially for older people who are not so good at using computers. Another advantage is its fast startup and shutdown features. It just takes seconds for Macintosh to start up and its ready to use once the window opens, no more loading or whatsoever.
For the disadvantage, there are many softwares especially for developers that does not work well or does not work at all in Macintosh. There are many compatibility issues for it because most developers create applications for Windows (because there are more users).
If you are not using a Macintosh computer, it would be impossible for you to use its software. What's possible is to use a WIndows operating system in a Macintosh computer.
Hope this helps.
