Hello fellows,
What is the main purpose of having Windows Server 2000 iso? From the word server maybe it is referring to a network set up or configuration, I was asked by our system administrator to fix some bugs in the network system but I can’t seem to find the problem between Windows Server 2000 and iso files. I need to know more about this to solve this issue. Thanks.
Regards,
Jeffrey.
What is the main purpose of having Windows Server 2000 iso?
The main reason is because alot of companies never saw the need to upgrade to a newer version of a server. Another good reason is for testing purposes between different servers as well as versions and on different computers to determine which one will serves your needs best. The iso also comes in handy when downgrading a workstation to a server.
What is the main purpose of having Windows Server 2000 iso?
Windows Server 2000 is the server edition of the Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system. Windows 2000 is an operating system developed by Microsoft as part of the Windows NT series of operating systems and the successor to Windows NT 4.0. Microsoft Windows 2000 was released to manufacturing on December 15, 1999 and to retail on February 17, 2000. In was released in four editions:
- Professional
- Server
- Advanced Server
- Datacenter Server
The release of Windows 2000 introduced NTFS 3.0 and encrypting file system including basic and dynamic disk storage. Windows 2000 was originally named “Windows NT 5.0” and it replaces Windows NT 4.0. The final name, “Windows 2000”, was announced on October 27, 1998 and the name is referring to its projected release date.
Windows 2000 was originally planned to replace both Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0 but this was changed later. “Windows 98 Second Edition” or “Windows 98 SE”, an updated version of Microsoft Windows 98, was released in 1999 instead. The Windows Server 2000 ISO file is a disc image of the Windows Server 2000 setup CD or DVD.
It is basically intended to be burned on a blank CD or DVD disc and be used for installing the Microsoft Windows Server 2000 operating system. An ISO file can also be mounted on a virtual drive.
