Hello Everyone. I would like to seek for your advise on what is the meaning 24 character failure ID indicates? Is it always the Hard Disk? I am asking because the hard disk is new and I am just upgrading my storage? Is it possible that the replacement is defective?
What is the meaning of 24 character failure ID?
The meaning of 24 character failure ID is that your Hard Disk is failing. Yes, it is always for the Hard Disk. Your hard disk is new and under warranty, I think so. Contact the provider to have the hard disk replaced.
There is no limitation of defectiveness for a hard disk.
What is the meaning of 24 character failure ID?
No, the 24-character failure ID doesn’t always refer to the hard drive of the computer. Sometimes it points to the battery like when you are using a laptop which uses a rechargeable battery when not connected to an AC power source. The 24-character failure ID will always appear when there is a problem with the device and will never appear on healthy components.
One example is the battery that a laptop uses. As you use your laptop, the maximum charge capacity that the battery can hold decreases with use and time. The loss of capacity differs with the battery type, how the computer is used, and the type of computer you are using. Here’s an example how the 24-character failure ID appears on device.
Like what I said earlier, the 24-character failure ID doesn’t appear or doesn’t show up on healthy devices like in the example below. A healthy battery will normally display the “Status: OK” message which indicates that it is operating and functioning within specification and as designed. See image.
But if the message reads “Status: Replace”, it indicates the battery has encountered a failure and needs to be replaced or it already reached the end of its useful life. Normally, if the age of the battery and the laptop is under one year, the 24-character failure ID will be displayed below the explanation. See image.
