Coinvault is a new ransomware which offers a free decrypt option. What is  a ransomware? What can it do and with what intent, is it launched?Why doesn't the claim of Coinvault not worth much anyway? How is it different from the other ransomwares like CryptoLocker? What is the backup policy that needs to be maintained in case of an infection?

What is new about this ransomware called Coinvault?

All back up policy should be maintained and at the same time try improving and add more effective strategies. Audit, Offsite back up and constant monitoring. Ransomware is a type of malware wherein, the infected files will no longer available unless you pay for ransom. A message will appear informing you the amount and how to pay the ransom in exchange for your files. CoinVault is also a ransomware program that was released for the same purpose. It specifically targets almost all versions of Windows, from XP to Vista to W8. CoinVault is associated with CryptoGraphic Locker family which offers additional a free file decryption to show they can actually do what they claim to be. The difference from the recently released crypto-ransomware, the decryption and payment system are built-in from the malware executable.
