Hello Davionevan, The reason behind the dessert names was because the original versions of the names Astro and Bender could not be use due to trademark issues. Google has use these tasty treats for humor code names and to make it even more exciting they have stayed within the alphabetical order as they are created. The Android was brought in July 2005 by Google, and was given the name Android 2.3 also know as Gingerbread. It was released to the public December 2010. Google then made known to the public that Nexus S (created by Samsung) would be used by T-Mobile. Later AT&T and Sprint join in. Ice cream sandwich is just the updated version of Android OS 4.0. It was launched October 2011 and has been updated with Samsung Galaxy. This program updated version features pop ups thumbnail images, folders, spell checker, and voice input.

Google doesn’t actually have an explanation as to why their Android mobile operating system is named after sugary desserts or confectioneries. According to Randall Sarafa, a Google spokesman, the naming is “kind of like an internal team thing, and we prefer to be a little bit — how should I say — a bit inscrutable in the matter”.

The obvious thing is that the Android mobile operating system when released, go by dessert names and in alphabetical order. Its version history started with the release of the Android alpha in November 5, 2007. Android 1.0 is the first commercial version released in September 2008. The Android platform is a mobile operating system that is continuously being developed by the Open Handset Alliance and Google.

The latest version is Android 7.0 Nougat which was released in August 22, 2016. Among its features include the ability to display color calibration, screen zoom, and switch between apps by double tapping in overview button. They also introduced Daydream, a virtual reality platform.
