Hi there everyone!
It might be a bit too late to ask, but I just heard of a recent service pack release of use Linux enterprise server 11, might I want to know if somebody here could tell me please what is new on the latest sp yet?
Thank you very much for your time.
What’s new in SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 latest Service Pack yet?
Dear Laurel,
The new SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 Service Pack 2 has an updated Linux kernel expanded virtualization and enhanced file system support.
The improved kernel results in improved computing performance. It supports the latest Intel Xeon and AMD Opteron processors and also makes use of new hardware feature like memory offlining.
The new service pack also provides support for high efficiency and low overhead OS virtualization. It is designed to work well with Hyper-V*.
It is the first Linux platform offering commercial btrfs file system support which results in better audit and system configuration changes roll-back by administrators.

Dear Laurel,
“So any software that has been certified for SLE 11 is still certified for SLE 11 SP2.” This is only true to a point. We do block level backups using Syncsort Backup Express. Apparently there were some major changes, enough to render their block level backup client useless. According to Syncsort engineering it will be “a while” before they have an agent that will support sles11sp2. So no SP2 goodness for us anytime soon.
