Hi,
Could you please let me know what is shadow copy in Windows 7 and how to create it?
I have rough idea that it is used to restore your system.
But I don't know what exactly it means by restoring your system and how to do it?
It would be a great help if you can tell me the procedure.
For your information i have windows 7.
Thanks,
Jeff
What is shadow copy and how to create it?
Shadow copy is technology in windows which allows you to take manual or automatic backup of your data, even if it has a lock on a specific volume at specific point.
This technology is basically used when your windows got corrupt or damaged then you recover your windows and data from a shadow copy. You don't have to create it yourself, it is created automatically in windows 7 every time when install drivers or new programs.
Or if you think this service is not on then follow the steps:
-
Go To Administrative tools in Start.
-
Double-click Services.
-
If the SPP service is disabled, then go to its properties and set it to automatic and start the service.
-
If Volume Shadow Copy service is disabled, then go to its properties and set it to automatic and start the service.
See if the problem is solved.
Good Luck!

Data Protection Manager creates shadow copies for data protection process.
One can access the shadow copies on the DPM server to recover previous versions of data.
Below are the step wise solution to create a shadow copy.
1. In DPM Administrator Console, click Protection on the navigation bar.
2. Select the protected volume or share for which you want to create a shadow copy.
3. In the Actions pane, click Manage shadow copies.
4. In the Manage Shadow Copies dialog box, click Create.
