The word Webmail is referred to as an email that you can access using the internet browser. You can access your email anywhere as long as you have an internet web browser such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Safari. Example webmail clients are Gmail, Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail.
This is very convenient for people on the go and wants to easily access their emails through any computer as long as there’s an internet access and a web browser you can send and receive emails anywhere in the world. Usually this service is free from the ISP providers wherein you avail of their monthly postpaid service. They often offer this bundled with their broadband service, depends on the plan you get and they offer free storage on the emails you receive.
A webmail or also referred to as web-based mail is any email client that is applied as a web application and accessed by means of a web browser. It is also an email client similar to Microsoft Office Outlook, Thunderbird, and Opera Mail but the only difference is it is accessed using a web browser and not as a normal program.
In a webmail, you don’t have to configure your account’s incoming and outgoing mail servers. You only have to create an account or new email address, login to your account, and that’s it. Your email is now working. Though you still need to configure the settings in your account but this is only minor. Examples of webmail include Gmail, AOL Mail, Yahoo! Mail, and Outlook.com.
Almost all webmail providers offer email access using a desktop email client while still providing access via webmail client. The main advantage of using a webmail is the ability to send and receive email messages anywhere using a web browser.
