Google Earth is a virtual globe created by Google that you can view on your computer. The program maps out the earth with the help of satellite imagery, aerial photos, and GIS 3D globe. There are times errors may be encountered while using Google Earth known as Parsing error. This error happens when a program’s format of a statement violates the recognized rules of the programming language.
This error sometimes results to the locking and freezing of your computer. It can be fixed by modifying some files included in the Google Earth application. First, open Windows Explorer then navigate to “C:Documents and Settings[username]Application DataGoogleGoogleEarth”. Find the files “myplaces.kml” and “myplace.kml.backup” and then rename them to any name you want.
Next, make sure Google Earth is not running then navigate to “C:Documents and Settings[username]Local SettingsApplication DataGoogleGoogleEarth”. Find the files “dbCache.dat” and “dbCache.dat.index” and then delete them. When running the program again, in “Borders and Labels”, make sure “Alternate Placenames” is unchecked.
